Project Fizz was born out of the need for a different approach to online freelance marketplaces. We’ve had the displeasure of dealing with some of these online freelance marketplaces with a variety of frustrations, regrets and feelings of a bitter taste in our mouth.

After reading plenty of blogs from freelancers located all around the world on the issue, Konfine decided to make a stand, we wanted to put the motivation back into freelancing for those left un-motivated and disappointed. We had a plan, a place where both Clients/Employers AND Freelancers were left happy. We tackled this in a number of key ways:

  1. Projects are still free to post for employers
  2. All bids made from freelancers are hidden from one another, only viewable by the project owner. This ensures that freelancers are happy to do the work for the quoted amount and clients are aware of this. No cost cutting can take place, a client/employer can simply reject the proposal if it’s considered too high.
  3. No overall fee of the project value is taken, freelancers simply have bid packs to place bids, this also ensures that the bids are considered wisely before use rather than a generic ‘We can do this lolz’ type of bid. Clients want a detailed, to the point proposal and not a one line proposal that has no merits.

Project Fizz has been built over time during our spare time from other paid work but we finally launched on the 13th January 2011, a date to remember. Now the hard part begins, driving traffic to the site and trying to change the perceptions of both parties who were left dissatisfied from previous experiences of other freelance marketplaces.

Project Fizz has been built using our PHP framework of choice, Codeigniter. The system is a comprehensive one and we love the design and simplicity behind bidding for projects. Project Fizz showcases most of our talents, the design in beautiful and intuitive, the logo looks amazing and the website is clean and includes use of JavaScript and Ajax for interactions. We have also integrated the PayPal API to take payments for bid packs and one-off job payments.
